The RF Rokkor 250mm is a mirror lens - using a folded optical path with mirrors rather than conventional glass elements. This makes it remarkably compact and lightweight for a 250mm telephoto, far shorter and easier to handle than an equivalent conventional lens.

The signature trait of mirror lenses is their distinctive "donut" bokeh - out-of-focus highlights render as rings rather than discs, giving images a unique, instantly recognisable look. The fixed f/5.6 aperture means exposure is controlled via shutter speed (and ND filters), with no aperture ring.
