A handsome oval tray in the Frisian folk art tradition, painted in the style for which this corner of the Netherlands has been celebrated for centuries.

The deep crimson field carries a central bouquet of roses and tulips in cream, gold, and deep burgundy, with scrolling foliage spreading outward. The black rim is finished with a fine gold festoon border, and the cut-out handles echo the heart motifs that recur throughout Frisian decorative work.

The reverse carries a maker's mark reading H.P. / Menaem.

Condition: Generally good with wear consistent with age and use, light surface wear.
