This is a solid yet lightweight cover that provides both thermal and mechanical protection to reliably shield the radiant heat coming from the manifold of the rear cylinder and prevent the right lower leg from coming into direct contact with the hot manifold pipe. We chose to make our carbon heat shield more than 130 mm longer than the standard shield. It therefore offers protection from painful burns and prevents damage to protective clothing from the effects of heat. At the same time, it offers a high degree of mechanical protection from scratches or dents for the manifold, which can easily occur while riding offroad or if the bike accidentally falls over. The heat shield is a one-piece design and is thermally isolated when fitted to prevent any risk of injury when coming into contact with it. Functional, integrated design with a carbon adventure look. The fluid organic shape tracks the contours of the manifold, perfectly matching the lateral flyline of the Pan America. Optimum installation is easy thanks to the assembly kits supplied. The heat shield replaces the original side part.

This carbon piece replaces the original component and uses the original attachment points. Two key benefits are the weight saving (typical saving approximately 70% over the original part) and the greater component rigidity.

Ilmberger uses pre-impregnated carbon fibre matrices for the high-quality carbon. The fibre volume is dimensioned and the alignment of the individual fibres is defined. The matrix is then laminated bubble-free by hand and coated twice with a protective layer. The added clear varnish layer protects and emphasises the three-dimensional effect of the carbon structure. After hardening in the autoclave, the carbon components meet even the toughest demands and requirements.

This space age material unfolds its full potential with up to 70% weight saving over the standard part and its weight-specific rigidity. Form follows function and integrates optimally into the design of the motorcycle. The contours of the machine are taken into account here, as are the material and surface texture of neighbouring series components.
