Sarah is a neurodiverse visual artist based in Southeast Queensland, who overcame anorexia in her 30s to become a solo mother to three creative sons. Her work is shaped by her experiences as the rebellious eldest daughter of a Chinese migrant family, and as someone who has never quite fit the boxes. A survivor of bullying and ongoing mental health challenges, she holds deep gratitude for life and the gift of second chances. 

With training in environmental science and holistic counselling, Sarah embraces a spiritual, eco-informed approach to creativity. She believes that making art lies at the very heart of being on Earth.

I was inspired by Shakespeare’s well-known quote. As a new mother, I realised I was the director, actor, and audience in life’s daily drama. I came to understand that I needed to stand up for myself not just for my own sake, but for those around me. I see 11:11 as a sign to wake up to the oneness of life - a reminder that the past, present, and future are fluid, and that healing is always possible. Our sense of humour is deeply tied to our sense of being human.
