ABOUT THIS COFFEE AND PRODUCER

Paulina is a Level 1 producer, a true nano-lot producer. This is her first year producing Geisha and she knocked it out of the park! 89.65 points and number 6 in the competition of Incawasi 2024.

She only produced about 80 kilos of green geisha, and Prospect Coffee bought as much as they could. Her finca is located in Amaypata, Incawasi. This area of coffee production in Peru is the next best thing, producing some of the finest coffees in years. The differences with other areas of cusco are: its very very difficult to get there, small lots of coffee production and a harvest in October/November (considered late in Peru). In fact the harvest for geisha is so late in the year, that most can't make the cut off date for the cup of excellence, so many of the best coffees in Peru never make it to the competition. This area is a true gem in Peru, and Prospect Coffee is excited to bring several lots to the US!

Paulina (47 years old) is a first-generation coffee producer. Born in the city of Cusco, she lived there for most of her life, where she had two daughters. At the age of 40, she separated from her husband and decided to move back closer to her family (in Amaypata, Cusco). Now, as a single mother, she has to support her two daughters on her own (without help from her ex-husband). Looking for opportunities, she became interested in coffee and thought it could be a good business for her small family of three. At that time, the regional government was offering small plots of land in Amaybamba to promote coffee development. She signed up and received a 1.5-hectare plot with the help of the government and the corporation associated with her area. She began by producing 6 quintals of Catimor coffee per year. In 2021, she planted her first Geisha plants (a local variety of Geisha). In 2024, her first Geisha harvest came in — just 2 quintals of parchment Geisha — but to her surprise, the quality was extraordinary. She entered the first Incawasi coffee competition in November 2024 and earned 6th place! It’s truly an inspiring story, and she is very happy to be able to support her daughters, who are currently studying in Cusco. The top 10 coffees in the competition were auctioned, and Prospect Coffee purchased her coffee. Prospect Coffee is going to support her with the materials she needs for the next harvest in hopes of repeating this great result.

WHY WE SELECTED THIS COFFEE

This is one of the most special Peruvian Geshas we've ever tasted — a stunning expression of terroir, craft, and perseverance. Grown by a remarkable solo woman producer, this coffee comes from a  tiny nano lot which placed in competition for its exceptional quality.

What sets this coffee apart is its extraordinary fragrance: vivid cherry blossom florals bloom on the nose, giving way to a cup bursting with juicy white peach and vibrant citrus. It’s a delicate yet expressive coffee that reflects both the rarity of the terroir in this hidden location and the dedication behind its cultivation.

Quantities are extremely limited — a truly unforgettable coffee, in both flavor and origin.
