Description:

Three or four modern harpsichords in the mix! Following FHR-58 and FHR-59, this is the third release in the series of EMI's earliest stereo recordings made in cooperation with the Archive of Recorded Sound (ARS). This time, a collection of old music performances from the past. Each of the recordings is a valuable source, including the first stereo release, and the remastering is also remarkable, making it a coveted item for enthusiasts. The famous British scholar and performer Dart arranged Vivaldi's Op.3-11 (which Bach arranged for solo organ) into a four harpsichord concerto, and George Malcolm's "Four Harpsichords", one of the first to introduce the harpsichord as an instrument to the music world at that time, was active as a conductor, pianist, and composer. George Malcolm's "Variations on a Theme by Mozart for Four Harpsichords" is a rather maniacal work. In the former, the original solo is played by two violins, so the arrangement has a lot of additional sounds and more interplay between the soloists. The latter is a magnificent and brilliant work with a strong performance effect, which nowadays gives one a kind of unusual sensation. The feast of the opulent modern harpsichord is a heart-pounding experience. The album also features the well-known Kirkpatrick, who is also well-known for his Scarlatti work number, and other greats of yesteryear. The rich, powerful, nostalgic sound of the orchestra is interwoven with the dazzling sound of the glittering modern harpsichord, and you can fully enjoy this chic old music performance, which is rarely heard today. The booklet commentary is written by Mahan Esfahani, who is currently making a name for himself as an extraordinary harpsichordist (Japanese translation not included).
